Retin-A Generic
Drug Uses
Retin-A (tretinoin gel 0.1%) is proven skin care medication to reduce the severity of acne vulgaris in effected patients. Seen most commonly in adolescents, but also seen in older patients as well, true acne involves the formation of comedones (large deep seeded pus filled pimples) that resolve slowly leaving behind a deep scar. Retin-A can significantly reduce the severity of these lesions.
Retin-A comes in tubes. Each tube contains 30gr.
How To Use
Use Retin-A Cream as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Retin-A Cream is for external use only, Avoid getting Retin-A Cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get Retin-A Cream in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. . Remove all cosmetics with a mild soap before applying Retin-A Cream. Gently dry the area. Wait 20 to 30 minutes to make sure that your skin is completely dry. Apply a thin film of medicine to the affected area. Rub in gently. Wash your hands immediately after using Retin-A Cream. For the first 2 to 3 weeks of treatment, your skin condition may appear to worsen. This is expected. Do not stop using Retin-A Cream at this time.
Possible Side Effects
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome: Redness, peeling, or feeling of warmth; sensitivity to sunlight; skin irritation; stinging at application site.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe redness, swelling, blistering, or crusting of the skin.
Precautions
Some medical conditions may interact with Retin-A Cream. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding, if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement, if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances or if you have eczema, an abnormally high white blood cell count, or a sunburn. Retin-A Cream may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Retin-A Cream. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Retin-A Cream, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
Storage
Store Retin-A Cream at room temperature, between 59 and 80 degrees F (15 and 26 degrees C). Store in a tightly closed container. Store away from heat and light. Keep Retin-A Cream out of the reach of children and away from pets.
